Graphic design is an industry that is always changing, whether that’s week to week or month to month. Having awareness of these trends can only help you as a designer, so you can make content that will appeal to every audience you have and gain traction for your brand or company.
1. Anti-design
Anti-design combines many clashing elements together, such as different fonts with different weights, sizes, and styles, overlapping text, and other elements that may seem like they wouldn’t work together.
2. Pixel
Pixelated text and images are very common in showing retro and futuristic design.
3. Doodle
Hand drawn doodled logos and image elements shows a more “human” approach, showing a friendly and warm look.
4. Gradients
Gradients show depth and dimension in graphics, they can be used to spice up backgrounds and add more intrigue into your post.
Earth tones, hand drawn type and illustrations, best for organic/green products.
Since graphic design trends change all the time, these trends may be out of style in a few months.
Trends such as coquette or botanical were popular in the past year and have slowly started to fade, but anti-design, gradients, 70’s style, and hand drawn type or graphics have been popular for the past couple of years and have stayed at the top of the trends.
Keeping up with design trends is one of the best tools you can use as a designer.
